Tanzania

Witnessing the Great Migration and Beyond

Tanzania is a land synonymous with epic wildlife encounters. The crown jewel is undoubtedly the Great Migration, a spectacle that unfolds across the vast Serengeti.

Here, an estimated two million wildebeest and zebra embark on a breathtaking journey, following the rains in search of fresh grazing grounds.

This annual dance between prey and predator, typically occurring between May and July, sees them traverse from the southern Serengeti to the Masai Mara and back by October.

But Tanzania’s magic extends far beyond this iconic event. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stuns with its diverse ecosystem cradled within its volcanic walls. Towering above it all is the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest freestanding mountain, a sight that inspires awe.

Nature lovers won’t want to miss the Selous Game Reserve, Africa’s largest, where a breathtaking array of wildlife awaits.

For a taste of paradise, explore the exotic spice islands of Zanzibar and Pemba, where pristine beaches meet vibrant culture.

Tanzania also shines as a fantastic starting point for a multi-country safari adventure. Combine your exploration with neighboring Kenya or venture further to see the awe-inspiring gorillas of Uganda and Rwanda.

Tanzania promises an unforgettable experience, where wildlife encounters, breathtaking landscapes, and cultural richness intertwine for a truly remarkable journey.

Climate

Tanzania has a healthy and generally agreeable climate due to altitude. The coastal zones have a tropical climate with plenty of sunshine all year round.

Much of the terrain is above 1,500 meters and here the climate is warm by day but chilly at night. The long rains usually fall in April and May. The short rains fall in October and November.

Visa Information

Visa on Arrival: Tanzania offers a convenient visa on arrival option for most nationalities. This means you can obtain your visa upon entering the country at an airport or border post.

Cost: The single entry visa typically costs USD $50 per person, but it’s advisable to double-check current fees with official sources before your trip (e.g., Tanzanian embassy or consulate in your home country).

Be Prepared: While visa on arrival is convenient, it’s always a good practice to have the necessary documentation readily available. This might include:

A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity remaining)
Completed visa application form (sometimes available online or at the port of entry)
Proof of onward travel (flight ticket)
Yellow fever vaccination certificate (recommended)

Double Check: Visa requirements can change, so confirm details with the nearest Tanzanian embassy or consulate before your trip to ensure a smooth arrival process.
